14th November 2024:
Summary
hi @everyone big news today! a new over-the-air (OTA) update will be hitting your r1 shortly.
we’ve shipped a new feature - generative UI on r1!
what we fixed:
- we’ve fixed the issue with reminders that appeared during the last OTA
- many battery life fixes and improvements
what’s new?
- generative UI
- your r1 now creates AI-generated interfaces to more clearly display the results of many different kinds of queries.
- you control the visual style! use our default look (inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion) or add your own custom style prompt in rabbithole settings. (see below for inspiration!)
- the generative UI is slower than our default UI, so we’ve disabled it by default. to access, opt in via rabbithole (you can opt out at any time)
generative UI style prompt inspiration
in rabbithole, opt in to try our new generative UI – then control the visual look by providing your own custom style prompt. to test a style prompt, just speak a query to your r1 which is likely to provide interesting results – like, “Show me the top tech news in California today.”
here are a few style prompt ideas to get you started:
- “you are a talented front-end UI designer, and your favorite video game is Sonic The Hedgehog. you will generate a very high quality UI in this style, and it will look amazing”
- “make everything orange”
- “you are the chief designer on board the Death Star. design a pixel-perfect UI for the galactic empire”
- “you will use sans serif font with 10px font size, slim margins and thin font weight. Use FF4D06 for accent color when needed”
enjoy - we can’t wait to see what kind of UI you make! be share to share photos with us.
for more info on how to use generative UI, you can check out our new support article here
18th October 2024:
Summary
after rolling out yesterday’s OTA, we discovered a new bug causing reminders to not set. we hopped right into action to diagnose why this was happening (and why it hadn’t shown up in all of our testing) and quickly built a fix.
we are now rolling out an OTA hotfix which will be hitting your devices shortly, and reminders should now work!
please see the release notes from yesterday for example prompts to test it out, and let us know if you see any further issues

Summary
time to throw out those old sticky notes - reminders are landing on r1 today!
check out this long-awaited improvement to r1 with our new combined OTA (over-the-air) and cloud software update. don’t forget (see what we did there) to plug your r1 into a power source and make sure you’re connected to wifi to install the update.
what’s new?
- your rabbit r1 can now set reminders
- reminders set for a specific date and time will trigger the reminder card at the given date and time
- reminders with an attached date and time can only be set for up to 7 days in advance
- reminders with no date/time set will appear in the reminders list (available upon you call it; check the sample prompt below), so you can also use it as a general to do list
- reminders aren’t repeating
- if your r1 is off when a reminder alarm is set to go off, it will show up as past due the next time you turn your r1 on
- all reminders create a blue icon log to your rabbithole journal, but you can only delete them from device
- we’ve also added some halloween surprises to r1 - stay tuned to our social media and community for clues soon - or see if you can figure them out
try these:
“remind me on the 16th of october at 6pm to pick up a birthday present for anna”
“set a reminder for october 18th at 11am to buy concert tickets to see sabrina carpenter”
“remind me that i need to call keith about planning a party”

17th September 2024:
Summary
we have a (very) small OTA release for you today. this will be installed automatically when your r1 is connected to wifi and a power source.
today’s update is just two things:
- we discovered and fixed a bug that could have caused errors for users in some countries. The impact we’ve seen so far is minimal and we will keep monitoring after today’s quick fix so it doesn’t become a problem. we find bugs, we squash them. you know how it works.
- we have made some further preparations for the upcoming alpha program for teach mode
12th September 2024:
Summary
the latest ota (over-the-air) update for your r1 is now live, and will automatically be downloaded to your device when connected to wifi and a power source.
as we ramp up towards bigger projects, we have a quality of experience improvement for you today.
what’s new?
you can now conveniently access settings from the home screen with a brand new double-scroll gesture. Of all the helpful feedback we’ve gotten from our users, this is one of the most common things that kept coming up, so we knew it was important to address it.
- scroll the wheel up twice from the home screen to access the settings menu, without the need to shake your r1
- now you’ll be much less likely to accidentally open the settings menu while using r1
- you can still see the familiar interface for different activities running, like music streaming, with a scroll down from the home screen.
3rd September 2024:
Summary
here’s the latest update for your r1 device.
in this update, we’ve squashed some pesky bugs and made some improvements to the user experience. we’ve also made some structural changes to better support upcoming feature releases.
this is a combined cloud update and OTA (over-the-air) update which will be automatically downloaded and installed on your device when connected to wifi and a power source.
what’s new?
- beta rabbit’s coming of age
- you don’t need to say ‘beta rabbit’ to get thoughtful responses to complex questions that require multiple steps of research and deeper reasoning
- we are integrating all the features from beta rabbit into the default experience – it will be a step-by-step process, but it will be well worth it!
- r1 now starts listening as soon as you press and hold the PTT button from sleep mode, without requiring a single press to wake first
- text to speech has been modified so audio output and text captions are aligned
- vision UI updates to make cards appear faster
- smart timer/alarm minor bug fixes for edge cases
15th August 2024:
Summary
