If I didn’t hate Google so much, it would really be an alternative for me… But no, Google is unfortunately poisoned, I only use what Google forces me to use. And that’s actually too much for me! I hope that one day they’ll be properly sued for it!

I also hope that @rabbit doesn’t screw it up and can one day be a real alternative to Google. I have a lot of hope, I know. but Hope is a good breakfast but a bad dinner.

loving this part:

“What can AI do for me? I understand people’s skepticism. There have been so many promises, so many coming soons, and not enough real-world helpfulness when it comes to AI. Which is why today, we’re getting real.”

The major breakthrough brought by Google at this conference is truly remarkable. It resolutely broke away from GPT and launched a brand-new Call Notes AI function that supports local operation, demonstrating its determination for independent innovation and technological independence. This forms a sharp contrast to Apple’s Apple Intelligence, which surprisingly still relies on GPT-4o and seems to be at a disadvantage in terms of technological autonomy.
For Rabbit R1, this is undoubtedly an important inspiration. If it wants to truly establish itself in the future market and achieve profit growth, complete independence and no longer relying on any third-party AI for operations are the key. Simply relying on selling equipment and investments to sustain the company’s development is by no means a long-term solution. Only by having independently developed core technologies can it take the initiative in the fierce competition and carve out its own territory.

If you’re taking on Goliath, imo you should not try to match his strength but find his weaknesses.

Google seems to make logical steps into integrating Gemini into their devices. Really cool tricks on the camera features, but otherwise nothing we have not seen before.

A few ideas how Rabbit can be the Rabbit of Caerbannog to Googliath :

  • Google locks you into the Google services. Rabbit has the potential to integrate across Apple, Google, Microsoft and others.
  • Google puts Google central: you are talking to Gemini, a helpful, friendly but impersonal Google assistant. My R1 listens to the name of Miffy. The way I understand the vision of Rabbit, Rabbit will be be moving toward a more and more personalized experience. My AI, not Google’s.
  • Google puts the AI in service of apps, integrating Gemini into the apps. It is still a very app-organized experience. Rabbit is positioned to work with you to get stuff done, simply by talking to it.

Imo, these are currently all mostly in the “promises and coming soons” category. But I believe there is enough that the big players are not seeing or don’t focus on to work with as a smaller player with a strong vision to create unique value. I look forward to seeing if and how Rabbit picks up on these.
