Recovering Meeting Audio

Is there a way to recover meeting audio that wasn’t saved in the journal?
I was at a professional development event listening to a keynote speaker and I started my recording of the meeting. At the end of the meeting, I ended the recording and it said saves to rabbit hole journal. But when I went and checked, it wasn’t there.
Is there a way to recover it or is it just lost now?
Is there a time limit on meetings?

Unfortunately, recovering the lost meeting audio might be difficult if it wasn’t saved to the Rabbithole journal. Here’s why:

  • Cloud-based Storage: Recordings are likely stored in temporary cloud storage and only saved to the journal if you explicitly instruct it or use the default setting.
  • Limited Recovery Options: Without a backup or a saved copy, there’s no built-in recovery function for lost recordings.

Here are some suggestions for future reference:

  • Double-check Saved Recordings: Always confirm that the recording indicator shows “Saved to Rabbithole Journal” before ending the meeting.
  • Manual Save Option: Request the Rabbit team to consider adding a manual “Save Now” button during recording to prevent future losses.

Time Limits on Meetings:

The good news is that according to the latest update (r1OS Version 20240615.10/0.8.103(134D8EC)), Rabbit R1 now supports longer meetings. However, there’s no specific information on the exact maximum duration.

Here are some ways to manage meeting recordings if you have long sessions:

  • Segment Recordings: If you anticipate a lengthy meeting, consider breaking it down into smaller segments and saving each one individually.
  • Cloud Storage Integration (Speculative): Future updates might allow integrating with cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive. This would provide a permanent backup for your recordings beyond Rabbithole’s storage.

Moving Forward:

  • Report the Issue: Consider reporting the lost recording incident to the Rabbit team. This will help them understand user experiences and potentially improve the recording and saving process.
  • Learn from the Experience: Use this incident as a learning experience. Always double-check that recordings are saved before ending meetings.

Hopefully, future updates will provide more robust recording management features and ensure you don’t lose valuable audio data again.

I havent had the opportunity to test the meeting assistant at length, but the one time I did it took a couple of days before I could playback the audiofile.

The entry was sitting there, and the Summary was also present. But not able to listen back on the recording.

Couple of days later and boom there it was.

Hopefully this might be your case as well!

My gosh! I haven’t had Rabbit R! successfully capture any lengthy audio since receipt. JUST NOW it lost a 5 minute recording that is very important. Seems this device can’t be relied on for the simplest of things. Can’t set a timer, can’t capture audio. What for!!?? Upset, and emotional now.

Personally, I don’t think there is.

Obviously your responses are noticing. But this might by design. If you’d be interested in (in asked) advice. Play with your prompt a little regarding tone of voice. This as I would have you easily mistaken with a bot.

On topic again

The longest recording that I have had save successful has been 53 mins and that was several weeks ago. I have had many recordings under 20 mins fail with no clear reasons why, plenty of battery, not moving around or accidental settings loading or button presses. I was curious if it might have lost connectivity and that could have kicked it out of recording perhaps. It would be great if it could record locally and only save to the cloud once it was done recording, but then you could at least have the saved local audio file on device somehow.

Nope! Better believe rabbit just lost everything you were hoping to capture. Ugh, what a mess rabbit has on its paws

Well thank you everyone for your replies. It was in fact lost. During another session about 20min in, it just stopped. Went back to the home screen. So there is some issues that need to be worked on.

It has been months, and there is no way to replay voice recordings. Can this be fixed?
