Getting to grips with my R1 Investment

I got my R1 a couple of months ago and havent really used it but I remain convinced there is goodness and I just need to invest time and effort into uncovering it! I realised I needed objectives and a plan. So I got to work with My Favourite tool, Perplexity.

I started by getting suggestions on what my objectives could be and then dug deeper into what was actually practical and useful in my context. There were a number of suggestions I binned:

  • Sorry the integrations to Uber etc are not really useful if you are outside the US / dont live in a big city. I do love my music but I use Tidal not Spotify
  • Reminders, Calendar management etc is already complicated enough - the Zoom calendar “enhancement” caused me to miss meetings etc. So no changes to that area
  • Real time translations - I suppose I could talk to my neighbours in Welsh but since they are all billingual I wou;d look a bit stupid

So these are my objectives (Any feedback welcome…)

Hey, wow, I’m really impressed to see the work and suggestions that you’ve made.

I totally agree with you. I think that rabbit should be capable of a version if not some fluid manner of all of these capabilities given its positioning as an assistant in addition to large action model which is separate from all other devices at this point in time.

I appreciate it full short at the moment but I do see the potential end in good faith. I have seen the rapid updates to bring the product closer to what users have been requesting so that’s really really awesome to see. I hope that we do get these updates. I think that there is a middle ground too with the user interface. I would prefer that almost everything was voice or command input operated but I think there is a space for a small number of touchscreen buttons smartly hidden behind the user interface and cards where we can view the journal etc. On the device itself. The rabbit should be smart enough to take all of the shared links from my calendar and synchronise with it going forward just by sharing it if it was asked at the moment that causes turmoil.

I really love your used cases. I’m just concerned that the title is the only reason why nobody else has commented on this because I thought it was going to be an angry rant however it’s actually quite insightful. Thank you so much! I love your insightful ideas and I agree with them. I hope others can add to this. I I want to as well.

Listening to Music on Spotify

I know I said I want going to listen to music on my R1 but…

Well, it works! You just say “Listen to Jack Johnson” and off it goes. One click of the button it pauses, another click it plays. To stop playing you just say “Stop playing music”.

Next challenge - listen through my airpods. Good shake to get to the settings, pair my airpods but I forget to back out of the settings :grimacing: Now I cant get the settings to reappear. Five clicks? Nope. Press button for a minute, stiff finger but no visible results! So I now have an R1 with no settings menu :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Music still plays, cant hear it through my airpods so I dont know whether the pairing worked or not! Anybody know how I get my settings menu back? :grinning:

If you have the latest update, you no longer shake but scroll up-scroll up to get into settings.

Obj. 1.2 Capturing Quotes and Insights
I love reading magazines and if I read something I want to follow up, I fold the corner of the page over for future reference. So this months Monocle Magazine arrived yesterday and I am savouring it. I have already “book marked” three articles. Lets see how I can capture the insights!

  1. P83/4 Interesting article by Tim Gill about the benefits of kids walking to / from school - probably some interesting insights for my volunteering with the Scouts. I double click take two photos, go to my Hole and I have two artist impressions of the pages, hmmm!
So obviously, I. need to tell my R1 what I want it to do with the image, I try again.

I double click, get the camera, focus on the paragraph I am interesed in, hold down the button and ask my R1 to transcribe the text. It thinks and says that it is unable to transcribe the text from the image I provided and I need to use an OCR reader… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

  1. P206 Theres an article about a fashion designer, Torisheju Dumi, and the author has included two really nice quotes about stories and dreams. Can I get my R1 to capture them?
  • first attempt - the R1 summarises the article well (which is what I asked it to do and is better than the last time I attempted to do - perhaps its the length of the article?) but no quotes
  • i make another three attempts to explain what I want but the R1 obviously doesnt understand
I think I am going to have to give up on this one :frowning:
