My R1 cannot maintain connection to the WiFi network, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, in those moments sometimes I get a minute or two of stable connection to ask a question otherwise it just not able to keep the connection with the WiFi network, all other devices on my network are working, I tried multiple things, turned on band steering, turned off band steering from 2.4GHz and 5 GHz frequency, then merged them on the same ssid, the logs show disconnection reason to be 3 sometime 4. Anyone else facing the same issue?
Yes others are having issues with iPhone hotspots and odd times WiFi file bug report on this site
The lasted firmware version helped quite a bit with my WiFi stability. I would not it’s “fixed” completely, but considerably better. I have not tried hot spotting from my phone yet…
This issue is probably part of my battery life being less than desirable too. Can’t confirm this, but that’s what my gut is telling me.
On my iPhone 12 Pro I have iOS17.6 beta 2 it seems ok but still drops connection odd time. So went to sim in r1 that great stable and cheap plus don’t need phone etc.
I noticed that when I am playing music it skips like it is losing the internet .Also when I am connected to my android. At my office I have a solid connection with no issues.
Go to bug report on this site and file one explaining the device your using and WiFi connecting to etc.
I am having the same issue. I opened a ticket 4 weeks ago and have not gotten any response other than the auto reply. Since then I have requested a status twice and no reply. I understand they are busy but disappointed that my ticket is coming up to a month old and no response.
I know they are looking into the problem but may get a fix soon we should have another update Thursday so maybe something in that.
Hey,
Had this issue at first too.
My r1 will connect to my home mesh mixed network (2.4/5GHz) network but won’t then roam between nodes as I move around the house.
I then set up my Guest network (non-mixed 2.4GHz only) and roaming works fine, been working fine for 2 weeks now.
So I guess it’s the mixed-network roaming it doesn’t like as is happy roaming on 2.4GHz only.

Just to add, I actually got a response very quickly by emailing their support team, maybe that way is easier for them to notice than through the forum…
I have two routers each has it own name and runs on mix of 2-5Ghz the r1 sees them an would only connect to one router till I gave it both names now if one router drops the r1 will switch to the other router and if need be the iPhone hotspot if turned on. But because the r1 now has a sim in it I use that rather than other WiFi etc. I found it easier. It can still go to WiFi if it wants while at home. The sim was best idea cheap and I don’t always carry my phone. But the sim seems solid connection.
What brand did you go with for your SIM card?
Lebara 5GB data a month £5 unlimited calls and txt not that the r1 can do that. Also it’s a one month rolling contract cancel anytime.
I am in uk.
Go to link below see if your country is listed that will give you idea of SIM card you may also want to read the rest of the page it may help
I have a similar issue with our meshed home network. It works only close to one of the nodes. The other nodes are recognized but cannot be connected.
Is there a solution for this issue?
Thanks for the info!
I have definitely had very similar disconnect issues with my Eero mesh network. I recently purchased a Tello SIM card and was amazed at how responsive my R1 became upon activation. It’s like a transformed device!
In my observation, it appears that the implementation of WiFi is perhaps flawed, in that with a SIM card inserted, if I am inside the house, the unit should attached to Wi-Fi and use that connection with higher priority. This is not the way it works. As long as the SIM card is present and cellular is active, the unit exclusively utilizes cellular - never WiFi
Once the Wi-Fi disconnect issues are rectified, I would recommend that the development team give some consideration to modifying the preference order for Wi-Fi vs cellular, in the interest of data savings.
New user to the rabbit. I have the same issue with WiFi stability.
Each update seems to increase the stability of the WiFi on the rabbit. It’s improved but a lot of people found it better to get a cheap SIM card in the r1 this allows them to be more free with the r1 without needing to have their phones on them. The WiFi songs can be affected by a number of things. People have found the best frequency is 2.4Ghz on the WiFi but that is a congested frequency. It may be worth putting a WiFi network app on your phone or tablet to see if any other networks come in stronger and wipe out your signal from time to time you could always adjust the channel in the frequency on the router. This may improve your WiFi.
Wifi stability still a major issue for me. i should be able to connect to my mesh system just like every other product i have. everything else works just fine but not the R1. Im not creating a special wifi for this device and is an unacceptable answer
Hey everyone,
Quick update that might help. With a few updates from the r1 team, while I only saw one related to PEAP WiFi, I still decided to put the r1 back onto my mixed (2.4+5GHz) mesh network and therefore off my 2.4Ghz only Guest network. After a week of testing (and without cellular switch on of course) my r1 is now switching nodes happily and I can see as it switches speedily between them. Issue therefore solved for me and it’s primarily using 5 GHz. Hope that helps.
