Super interesting thread here, so i’ll drop some thought as well:
Simon has a great point saying that the level of the rappers from the old past is not even matched nowadays. If we just look at 2Pac, the greatest of all times, lets wonder why he touched the souls of listeners and become an eco in our hearts:
he was writing profound lyrics, he had an amazing storytelling ability, and had a great emotional delivery. He tackled social issues and personal struggles with a depth that resonated with a wide audience. and i think this is why he is one of the greatest
if we look at todays message in the rap world is all more about debauchery…
And lets not forget: The Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie Smalls) / Jay-Z / Snoop Dog that also can be if not the greatest but at least very influential figures in the scene.
