Hi guys
This is not meant to be an attack to the developer or to the overall device but just an observation of the big big reason of why I can’t use R1 daily. During this month, thanks to recent updates I was more willing to give a shot to this device and give it a chance to enter my daily routine with some very very VERY simple task. What are these task about? Giving news and information of the global landscape, making me listen to music, sometimes answering some question and, this last week, setting my alarms. The real problem for me is not ( even if it should be) the very little amount of things that this device can do ( that is anyways frustrating) but the total unreliability of the device even in very simple situations. Somedays the news are given correct, other days the device tells me news of October 2023! . Sometimes the music plays and other times it just get stuck and doesn’t play anymore. The alarms sometimes are set at the first time, other time the device responds that it doesn’t have the capabilities to do so. Now they have implemented the directions, at it gives you street names (when it works and doesn’t say that is unable to provide directionts atm), this is one of the least intuitive ways of giving direction, an arrow like the one of the Apple Tag could’ve brought a huge step-up instead of a list of instructions with names of streets. The device is not reliable, as a user I can expect a behavior from the device that for the majority of time is never repeated. These are critical issues that needs to be solved to give the device a glimp of usability in the daily routine. For what regards the features that are still missing, we can only wait .

I agree the basic features and the UX should become way more reliable over new features being added.

Mine is dead after last update and will not do anything. Just sits there scrolling “checking update”. Did I just throw $200 out the window? This is very disappointing.

Indeed, if the device becomes unresponsive, press and hold the button for 60 seconds to shut down the r1.
