The Rollercoaster of Expectations

The Rollercoaster of Expectations

Hey everyone,

You know that feeling when you’re so excited for something that you can hardly wait? Well, that was me recently. I was one of the first guys to jump on it—I bought it the moment it was available. I had high expectations, eagerly anticipating how it would transform my experience.

I took it, tried it, and… reality hit me like a bass drop at a techno festival. I realized that it’s just not going to happen the way I imagined.

It’s a reminder that sometimes, our expectations don’t quite match up with reality. But hey, it’s all part of the journey, right? We learn, we adapt, and we move forward.

What’s something you’ve been super excited about, because the rabbit did it to me. only to find out it didn’t meet our expectations? Share your stories in the comments below—I’d love to hear them!

Stay positive and keep dancing through life!

Neoplants, was supposed to be a genetically altered house plant that could filter micro plastics…after almost two years I ended up with a subscription dependant plant, that did not filter micro plastics, and was shipped with a bunch of big insects in the soil…they were upfront about the wait and changes and everything (except the bugs lol), but my partner accepted the alternative without reading the details

Hey, so besides r1, I was also really looking forward to this community here, yes and then I have to look back at my expectations at least a little, namely when I was insulted here for the first time and it was only because I am the way I am.

But I take it in a sporting spirit, because the world is what it is and you always have to make the best of it.

Fun fact: The greatest people in the history of computers only looked like they were kissing other people’s asses.

yeah, far away from wanting to insult you, i was just honest how it looks like from my end, because i read your posts and i think u make r1 bigger then it actually is at this stage. and saying “Jesse i love you” …

I understand your point of view, but that’s what happens when you look at the same thing from two different perspectives. For you, r1 is not what it is for me. I mean, sure, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, but what Jesse and his small development team have already achieved? Hey! That’s MEGA! I think you can only love this man for actually seeing this idea through to this point. And I mean that completely seriously. Apart from that, what else on your mind? I mean, I love a lot of people, even people who are unfortunately no longer on this earth (like Michael Jackson), and there’s room in my heart for a lot more people! What’s wrong with that? You shouldn’t really care. Live and let live! But what really bothers me is that such an ingenious concept (namely creating the most intuitively usable computer), which Jesse presented in his keynote speech, is (as far as I have read here and there) developing in a direction that would make it completely useless for many people whose everyday life could be made so much easier by it (namely primarily disabled people who rely on something like this), but precisely because of this (for example by pressing the PTT button 3x, 4x, 5x quickly) for these people in particular, but not only for them, made so useless that in the end even perfectly healthy people will no longer fully understand it. And I think that’s a real shame, and that’s why I’m sharing this with everyone!

It’s also a new set of devices. It’s not as it looked like it could be in the “Hype” videos but I set my expectations lower. I didn’t see it doing all that but have hope its coming.

PPT Quick AI and notes was my bar… Being new they had to have people using it to see how this new tech would go. Its disappointing that some of the features arn’t here yet, but seems lie they are serious in the “YET” part. I am cool with that. We’ll see how close it gets to the hyped idea. I don’t see much come out of CES matching the Hype… most of its dead before its out or dropped soon.

I feel it a bit, but also got much better and expectations were set for those who watch close like I do…

According to the following post (Bluetooth Speaker - #8 by mattdomko) by @mattdomko, I simply conclude that there is still some movement in the Rabbit development team or that things could from now on move forward better and that they are perhaps still experimenting here and there because, as you have already written, this is a completely new type of device. I don’t think that anything is dead, I just think that it will take a relatively long time until it is more or less as @jesse has presented it. On the other hand, when you think about the enormous potential that lies in this small, beautiful, orange-glowing companion, I also have a theory that would explain the whole thing that many people here in the community are annoyed about. The only problem is that if this is really the case, then no one from Rabbit will ever be allowed to talk about it. What I mean is, for example, an NSL (National Security Letter) that could say something like: “We believe that your product could endanger national security for X reasons… bla bla bla… for example, because in the worst case scenario it could hack the planet… bla bla bla… and if you tell anyone about it, you’ll go to jail for 1000 years or we’ll shoot you immediately…” (National Security Letters: FAQ | Electronic Frontier Foundation). I mean, this fear is not even that far-fetched, because this concern is ultimately the reason that Jesse mentioned for why teach mode does not yet exist and why it should only contain services that are on a white list. But, as I said, that is just a fear of mine and even if it is, we will never be able to find out the truth anyway, because, as I said, no one who receives NSL is allowed to talk about it. But something like that could also explain very well why certain things that r1 should actually be able to do, perhaps even can’t never exist for such reasons. You may hardly believe it but more NSL are sent than you could possibly imagine. So, as they would say in Germany: “Wait and drink tea…” (“Abwarten und Tee trinken…”)… :tea: I mean, in times like these you see it every day in the international news, but that’s basically how it’s always been: the people who rule over us, just like the people they’re fighting this people, would walk over dead bodies if they could get into a situation where they could lose their power, and that’s why they’d rather prevent progress and everything good that could move humanity forward for exactly this reason. But back to the situation, I don’t think it has to be like that in the case of Rabbit, but only that it could be like that in the worst case scenario.

I just have not seen anything new above my Smartphone’s capabilities, why carry 2 device if your old smartphone does it 10x better. What is the r1 point of difference in your mind (ask any question to your android/iPhone first ;>)?
