Skip ahead to the main break—you know, the part that really matters.
Download the track.
Move on to the next one.
Rinse and repeat.
Now, I gave this a shot using the web version. Got a few things right, like getting a track to play eventually, but the experience? Let me lay it out:
No Sound – No matter what I tried—internal speakers, headphones—nothing came through. Dead silence.
Missing Downloads – After downloading, I couldn’t find the file anywhere on my machine. Where are these tracks even going?
Auto-Login Without Credentials – After testing other sites and coming back to mydjmusicsource.com, it logged me in automatically. No credential prompt. So where exactly are these credentials being stored? And, more importantly, are they secure?
I’ve also got a bunch of other web interface issues, but those don’t relate to audio. I’ll get into that mess in another post.
The cumulative cost of every user storing the files that they downloaded to the virtual machine (VM) / rabbithole would be quite expensive (over time). Storage has a price, and I’m actually surprised that rabbit has never spoken about a maximum amount of storage for the rabbithole / playground that is included in the one-time cost of the r1. Just look at the file sizes of the audio recordings in the rabbithole.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be a cap on the amount of data that a user can have.
I believe that the VM environment used for the playground doesn’t support audio redirection (or is intentionally switched off). It is not a standard VM setup, because there is also a connection running between the VM and the r1. Without audio, the playground already faces stability / bandwidth challenges. I can imagine that audio redirection would just increase those challenges.
i quite possibly think that if you log into your email provider on the LAM interface you can email the files to yourself. this hasn’t been tested so if any of you guys wanna test it i ain’t holding you back.
i ll give it a try but i did noticed they save the files with some strange combination of letters and numbers. i would like my downloads to keep its name etc … but yeah thanks for the tip
guess this was not thought about it, but maybe good to explore possibilities ?
just trying to suggest something with my very little knowledge of literally anything tech, sorry. i didn’t really know what you meant tbh because i was a little bit upset before this and saw this so i was not in the most greatest mood trying to read this so now i understand. thx
I think there might have been a bit of a misunderstanding here. When I mentioned the VNC protocol and pulseaudio, I was referring specifically to forwarding audio over the network, not to any user interface. The sound forwarding would happen server-side, so it’s unrelated to any player interface on the R1.
