Sound is not coming out of the playgorund !

Use Case Breakdown:

  • Head over to mydjmusicsource.com and log in with your credentials.
  • Pick your preferred genres (e.g., XYZ).
  • Hit play on the first track.
  • Skip ahead to the main break—you know, the part that really matters.
  • Download the track.
  • Move on to the next one.
  • Rinse and repeat.

Now, I gave this a shot using the web version. Got a few things right, like getting a track to play eventually, but the experience? Let me lay it out:

  1. No Sound – No matter what I tried—internal speakers, headphones—nothing came through. Dead silence.
  2. Missing Downloads – After downloading, I couldn’t find the file anywhere on my machine. Where are these tracks even going?
  3. Auto-Login Without Credentials – After testing other sites and coming back to mydjmusicsource.com, it logged me in automatically. No credential prompt. So where exactly are these credentials being stored? And, more importantly, are they secure?

I’ve also got a bunch of other web interface issues, but those don’t relate to audio. I’ll get into that mess in another post.

Cheers, Alexh (c)

The playground doesn’t do sound at the moment and you can not download files to the virtual machine.

It would be cool if it could download them to your rabbit(hole)

well it did show downloads in that browser. and they had just a different name but same size in mb.

bummer

The cumulative cost of every user storing the files that they downloaded to the virtual machine (VM) / rabbithole would be quite expensive (over time). Storage has a price, and I’m actually surprised that rabbit has never spoken about a maximum amount of storage for the rabbithole / playground that is included in the one-time cost of the r1. Just look at the file sizes of the audio recordings in the rabbithole.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be a cap on the amount of data that a user can have.

I believe that the VM environment used for the playground doesn’t support audio redirection (or is intentionally switched off). It is not a standard VM setup, because there is also a connection running between the VM and the r1. Without audio, the playground already faces stability / bandwidth challenges. I can imagine that audio redirection would just increase those challenges.

VNC protocol has no sound, they might need to implement a pulseaudio server or something of that sort for the sound to be working.

pretty pls

Yes, it is indeed the VNC protocol that is being used. Jesse confirmed that yesterday in a post.

i quite possibly think that if you log into your email provider on the LAM interface you can email the files to yourself. this hasn’t been tested so if any of you guys wanna test it i ain’t holding you back.

i ll give it a try but i did noticed they save the files with some strange combination of letters and numbers. i would like my downloads to keep its name etc … but yeah thanks for the tip

guess this was not thought about it, but maybe good to explore possibilities ?

That is not possible because the system can not access files on the machine.

well i tried. could you even drag the file into the email thing from the downloads section? ill try but idk

What do you mean? I’m trying to tell you the virtual does not allow access to the local (downloaded) files…

just trying to suggest something with my very little knowledge of literally anything tech, sorry. i didn’t really know what you meant tbh because i was a little bit upset before this and saw this so i was not in the most greatest mood trying to read this so now i understand. thx

I understand. no problem! Yes, we are talking about the downloads right now right? (because we were also talking about audio from the virtual machine)

@Designer If we can listen to Spotify, wouldn’t it be doable to also listen from other websites ?

Yes ofcourse.

It might need work but I don’t know if the experience will be good. Do you want a player interface on your R1?

I would love for the R1 to download things to the local memory. Especially audio.

Hey @Designer ,

I think there might have been a bit of a misunderstanding here. When I mentioned the VNC protocol and pulseaudio, I was referring specifically to forwarding audio over the network, not to any user interface. The sound forwarding would happen server-side, so it’s unrelated to any player interface on the R1.

Hope that clears it up!

Yes I understand… I’m just talking about what would be ideal…
