Rabbit, can you please add a simple setting to the Rabbit R1 setting menu and give the option to have all weather / distances etc given permanently in Metric or Imperial.
Eg Metric - Celcius / Metres / Kilometres etc
It is crazy that this is suppose to be a smart device yet there is no simple way to make Metric a permanent option.
They know about this and are working on it.
Most people in the mean time as a work around ask the r1 to give readings in the format they prefer.
Ask r1 to give you weather reports in Celsius and or kph.
You could ask it to give you all measurements in metric instead of imperial.
You can even give it a note via voice or input via terminal.
note from now on give me Celsius instead of Fahrenheit
Or
Note from now on give all measurements in metric.
It will save it to the rabbit hole and tell you it’s saved. It’s a bit hit and miss.
Obviously, this should be based on your current location which they track because that’s what every other smartphone app does to create targeted marketing to generate a passive income, duh ;>)
That would be nice if it only also worked. I tell it to give me Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. It promises me that it will remember. But the memory of a rabbit must be short. 10 minutes late it will give The forecast in Fahrenheit again
Yes, as a default that would be good and goes without saying to then opt out of the default of the country.
This reminded me of an experience I had last year when I bought a Nintendo Wii and a bunch of second-hand related accessories including the balance board. I worked on setting up the Wii Fit software, creating my little Wii avatar and profile. I was surprised to find that when it came to entering my weight and height for the BMI I simply could not change it to metric.
I did some reading and it seems that the Wii will base the measurements on the country (UK in this case), which drove me a little nuts, as it was technically appropriate for my country but I felt like I was being held hostage to the default of the masses lol.
yes I did go into terminal and instructed to issue all temperatures and measurements into metric - resulting that it worked a few times. I then finally got connection to itunes working and was testing out playing a few songs and then it would not stop and had to force power off and then back on. After doing so temperatures and measurements was back to imperial and then terminal said it would convert again but the rabbit could not do it at all.
very hit and miss, and disappointing
Something to consider would be the use case. If I am doing math related to the amount of cow manure needed to cover my garden in the backyard then it will be feet. BUT, if I am trying to estimate the distance traveled, and time elapsed as two orbiting bodies circle a Black hole, then of course the metric system.
One for science and one for other sh##.
But in all seriousness, I try to qualify the answer in the way I pose the question to the AI. All other settings will be app specific.
You know if you attempt to work out how much cow manure is needed in feet the AI will say it’s not a good idea to add feet to manure it will make it lumpy and I don’t recommend taking someone’s feet.
Wolfram alpha does a good job with maths etc via camera or voice. Just ask the r1 to ask wolfram alpha.
Click the ptt button 2x and point camera at the equation and ask r1 to ask wolfram alpha what the answer is to the equation. It should take a picture and then look at it giving you the answer. That is it doesn’t think your doing it for studies and want to cheat.
As for the black hole I can’t see it myself but I know it’s there:rofl:
With the (experimental) gen UI prompt it now seems to be consistent in responding in european standards for metrics and temperatures. I just added the following to my UI prompt:
“For currencies and metrics always convert to european standards.”
Voice response is still in imperial metrics but the UI shows European standards.
