R1 doesn't play Podcasts and always disconnects from WiFi

Hello community,
I’ve incountered 2 frustrating bugs in my Rabbit R1. First: when prompted to play a podcast, it asks for clarifications, even if I tell it to play a specific podcast and a specific episode, or it starts playing random music. It’s frustrating!
I asked to play “The global news podcast” by “BBC World Service” and it started playing an Italian to English translation that totally missed what I’ve asked to play. This has to be corrected urgently because is really frustrating!
Second. WiFi remains connected only in my bedroom, that’s ruffly 30 meters away from the router. When I go to every other parts of my house, WiFi disconnects and there’s no way to get it back connected. Really a disaster!!!
I hope these bugs will get corrected not later then this week because they prevent me to use the device as I want to.

Thanks for sharing,

I also have some major wifi issues that affect my experience because I never know if my R1 is going to be able to respond.

  • Sometimes the ears don’t go up but it is listening.
  • Sometimes the ears do go up but it gives no response and just stays quiet. After 30 seconds it might show ‘disconnected’ text.

There is no indication of it not being connected before I make my request (and not even instantly after) and it feels really bad getting zero response.

My wifi is quite decent for all my other devices… and I really hope it is a software issue that is able to be fixed.

I feel like if this was reliable I would pick the R1 up more casually.

Hello there,
I am happy not to be the only one who has WiFi problems with the R1!
Those 2 I’ve indicated are the most terrible issues I am having with the device; if it wasn’t for that, I found the R1 really useful.

This is correct, i have tested as well multiple times with exactly names of podcasts and always the r1 plays some random playlist that doesn’t have much to do with the request first or all.

Not only an unstable WIFI connection but having problem with connecting or seeing hotspots from some specific phone brand ( u guess good: iPhone ) is not cool as well. I have a contract with unlimited data, and i could use my hotspot super easy, but like this i need to pay each month another 20/30 euro for a new sim just to be able to use it when not at home…

Some users mention that they can connect to iPhone host spots but this was not my experience. And if some can then i think it might be an issues with some devices and their connexion?

I haven’t tried connecting it to an iPhone hotspot, I can barely use it when I am home, just in my bedroom as I previously mentioned…
Putting my phone SIM inside it makes it work well, having a Cellular capable Apple Watch connected to my Cellular Plan I can also think of using the Rabbit R1 with the SIM and the Apple Watch for calls and messages in short travels but I am not ready for that kind of experience.
Waiting for a fix that allows me to at least use the R1 around the whole house…

If i could express my opinion on this:

I think is not really the r1 problem but the capacity of the router. I recall on my visits to Toscana and Napoli wifi signal in the house was already a little problematic, meaning that the connexion is not strong overall. sometimes walls and other things can stop the WIFI signal.

A device such as a wifi booster can solve this problem. Is also not that expensive to get a booster. So i hope this is helpful

Yeah but I hoped it would have the same connection capabilities as my other devices. I really hope it can be fixed with software and isn’t the hardware.

(The UX problem stays the same)
