Native languages

More and more customers from Europe are buying the Rabbit R1. I bought it because it was planned to have French language. I will be really disappointed if I have to wait a long time. This should be the priority for the company now…

Hi @Karim ,
Hi @leahcim ,
Hi @cldferrilab ,
Hi all,

I agree with you. To have much more content and use cases, language packages should be get a high priority.

Also the ‘teach-mode’ should get a very high priority.

In the following post I have created a trick, which I have found in some tests with my rabbit r1.

It could be improve the community-request for more languages at the moment in this early development:
> Summarize a topic in a language other than english

Hello, how are you?

Please understand my message, thank you. I am in France and I have received my Rabbit which is frustrating me a lot. Why? Because it only supports the English language! For me, if I pronounce a singer’s name in English and don’t pronounce it well because I don’t have a good accent, it suggests a random artist or asks me to rephrase. Look at the second-hand resale sites in France, there are thousands! Why? Because the French language is not supported!!! So when is the French language update coming? Since January, it has been written that multilingual support is coming…??

Please make even urdu support on this device, but not Italian. I wish Rabbit will
help people to study languages  a bit

FYI I’ve got a reply from Rabbit:

Thank you for reaching out to rabbit support. I appreciate your suggestion about having the rabbit r1 to respond in the target language with the corresponding voice and pronunciation, rather than defaulting to English. We truly value your feedback and are glad you took the time to share your thoughts with us.

I’ve noted your request and will be forwarding it to our team for consideration. If you have any other ideas or questions, please feel free to let me know.

Our team is actively working on multiple aspects of the r1, and we carefully consider all feedback from our community, including the high demand for native language support as well as basic features like calendars and calculators. We understand that balancing various priorities is essential to improving overall user experience.

The updates we’re currently focusing on are aimed at enhancing the r1’s core functionalities and exploring new capabilities that we believe will add significant value for our users. While we understand the importance of the features you’ve mentioned, our development process involves evaluating and prioritizing features based on numerous factors.

Your input is valuable, and we’ll make sure to pass your concerns along to our product and development team. We are committed to listening to our community and continually improving the r1.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. We’re dedicated to making the r1 better with each update, and we appreciate your engagement in this process.

Dear R1 developers, as long as you improve r1 and don’t adapt it to other languages, our devices remain stored in drawers, gathering dust, and we see the use of r1 endangered due to the advances of AI in mobile phones

r1 is a similar but also a different class of device compared to a smartphone, so I understand this concern, but if the developers at Rabbit and especially those responsible don’t really do everything wrong that can go wrong, then this concern is unfounded.

I open this topic almost every day in the hope of finding news about the Italian language, I’m sorry, but mine will remain in the drawer for a long time, unfortunately.

Also, I want to say to everyone like me who pre-ordered Rabbit, that we can be as annoying as we want about the language requirement. When we bought it we already knew that the Italian would not be there, for this reason the team, despite the kind answers, cannot do more.

I do not agree with you : when we ordered we knew nothing more than what they showed except R1 deliveries would start in US, then UK, then Europe because they had to fine tune them for those countries. In this tuning process, and as a daily AI user since chatGPT exists, i genuinely thought language integration would be a logical key feature. It was not. And it still not is. And i don’t know if it ever will be, as, look what i just saw 5 minutes ago:

So who is telling the truth? The very political Simon (i do not blame, it’s precisely his job) when he says “oh it’s on the road map but we don’t have any precise release date” ? Or this CM from Rabbit Inc replying on their own Facebook Ads like it might be a good idea and they will pass the feedback ??? Dude, we are litteraly asking for this since day 1 and they act like they did not ever think about it? What a joke!

Rabbit Inc just does NOT communicate enough about any timeline. So. Is it REALLY an actual work in progress? Or is it another bulls**t ?

Hope we get a new roadmap from Rabbit soon.

Hope we get time stamps on the roadmap.

Exactly, everyone thought it was an easily implementable function given the potential of artificial intelligence and given what open ai has done. But looking at the facts I realize that this is not the case.

I believe working on a more stable experience overall is more important. But I agree language support is also very important.

In my point of view the development team should release a timetable, which milestones will be developed.

I think no one need an exactly timestamp, but the month should be mentioned.

We have so many ideas here and a good community, which helps a lot the development team and all users with support.

So it should be the time to give (us) more transparency back for the rabbit r1 development.

I created a new suggestion here for a release of a milestones plan:

> Development milestone-plan for more transparency

Would be great, if you can support this.:slightly_smiling_face:

I think you’re slightly over analysing this

That’s a perfectly polite reply from our team, but it’s not the support team’s remit to be able to give more info than that, and they don’t always have that info. They’re dealing with hundreds of comments every day across social media platforms.

I’m looped in and work closely with product, so unless Jesse decides to weigh in on something, it’s usually going to be me that can give you the most up to date info and context on any given project, and please remember that projects and priorities can and do change all the time. I’m trying my best to stay on top of all of that.

The latest info I have is that Jesse asked the Product team to scope it out meaningfully, and only when that scoping work is completed can we truly start to understand the timeframe, even roughly.

And I’m very happy about this, because I have been banging the drum for a while on this, I have fed back the data from the votes, from this thread, from everywhere this is being discussed, and I have been very vocal about it. Beyond that, it sits with Product.
