just make a google you ll understand
The references to communication are the following:
0: Jesse mentioned that the r1 has a global LTE 4G SIM card slot. (For non-WiFi connectivity)
1: “Calling a ride” from Uber, which does not use any verbal communication.
2: “Communication features”, which included translation and the meeting assistant to help you communicate better with others (in-person).
3: r1 sending you an email of a CSV table from vision mode, which only goes to you.
4: Teach mode may allude to the potential to teach the device to use discord for communication.
I believe communication on the r1 will take the same form as it does on iPad and MacBook: neither device make cell calls, but both can use cellular data or WiFi to make calls using VoIP with What’s App, Discord, Skype, and more. These skills will very likely be trainable to your r1 via teach mode early next year, and be downloadable from the rabbit store.
Any new features will be great! Now, very limited, currently thinking Nokia 3110…
You don’t have to use extra features, no reason to deny mine. They said it could do it from day one. They just decided to hide the features for now. This was me asking developers, not other people thier opinion. If you don’t like/want a feature, don’t use it.
Any new features will be great, it has been awhile…
I’m just being honest here, but the absolute LAST thing I want from the R1 is calls and texts. I want to stay away from a phone as much as possible. I think focusing on opening the device to more integrated systems (as a workflow assistant in my use case) and working with agentic systems would better serve many more people.
Not sure about texts but quite a few services still require voice calls. I’m not interested in using the R1 for calls but wouldn’t it be cool if my R1 could make an outgoing call to order pizza?
I do agree with @Wesley that calls and text are basic comms services that are already provided on the hardware / sim card, they’re not smart phone apps imo.
Thats quit cool @PaulBacon
This leads me to another scenario:
User: Hey Rabbit call “X” and ask if he is available on “Y” date at “Z” time.
R1: Action ringing “X”
X: hello this is X
R1: Im r1 Alex Ai assistant, he asked to meet you Thursday on “Y” at “Z”. would you be able to ? If yes i will he will get back to you with the location.
X: Ye that is fine, tell him i ll make time.
R1: Thanks! Have a good day!
R1 to User: “X” can make it to meet. Want me to add this to the calendar? And he ask where to meet , you already have in mind a location?
User: Yes, tell him I’m gonna meet him at “Charlie’s Bonfire Bar”
R1: On it.
R1 rings back “X”: Hi, its me again r1, Alex said to meet you at Charlie’s Bonfire Bar. Can you confirm?
X: Yes i confirm i ll meet him there.
R1: Alright, have a good one! Good bye
R1 now added the extra info into the calendar appointment and sets a reminder 1h before and gets back to the user
R1: “X” confirmed the location, everything is logged in the calendar and i set a reminder 1h before just in case. I’m here if you need me.
But i think it sounds a bit as the initial promos for the r1
Yeah in addition this could also fix a problem with Uber Eats and Dash. All restaurants have ordering by phone also. It could even just have a virtual number and make the calls also in the background using some software, script or service, think should be possible.
This is me just putting my opinion in i truly believe that if R1 obtains the ability ir feature to message a friend in some way using either your phones bluetooth network etc (i wouldnt know how they would do it just that it should be done) it truly would start becoming a more fully fledged assistant i mean i truly would love to be able to have some things like that accessible via rabbit R1 it just helps me choose which device i can and want ti use in public spaces and more often then not if not phone calls texts are coming through and it usually means you have to have your phone (just general use case) and so ya I agree personally and would love to see rabbit find a way for us users to be able to maybe access emails (read delete etc) and texts id be haply if they at least gave me texts id instantly be using my R1 over the phone while running around cuz i love flaunting the bright orange R1 its just the phone has so many useful things we rely on everyday. So if Simon ir anyone in the team sees this thread please find a way to do this either by connecting to phone or preferably network.
Then don’t use the feature man. No reason to gatekeep people who want/need it. No reason to even reply.
That sounds like my idea with the Bluetooth speaker, I like it.
