It would be nice to be able to talk to Rabbit without necessarily having to press a button.
It would have been very convenient if there was a physical switch on the device that would allow the user to set the “PTT” or “Continuous Dialogue” mode.
This feature would be especially useful for continuing conversations while leaving the device on a table or other surface. (Chat GPT’s voice call works just like this)

Something like saying “keep listening to me for 10 minutes / 1 hour” could be useful.

You’re right - if there was a hardware switch to enable “always listening”, that would be awesome.

I’m wondering if folks who wanted that on the current hardware would be ok with a little bit of work to make it happen?
IE - you go into rabbithole, click a checkbox that says, “Enable Hands Free mode”. That would cause a device update to be pushed with the feature enabled. This way, if you’re super privacy focused, you still get “push to talk only” - and if you want hands free, you can do it. You would need a device update to switch back and forth… but would that be worth it?

I really wish there was a hardware cutoff for the microphone VS software… I think this switch you mention could be paired with that to solve both problems
- better privacy, because the mic becomes physically disabled when the switch is off
- better hands free usage

Never heard a detailed explanation but I thought rabbit suggests the mic can’t be active unless the button is pressed? So I assumed that was a hardware thing…but idk🤷

Hmm… sounds like I get to do some digging into the hardware design The fact that you can enter a recording session and stop holding down the button shows that it isn’t purely a hardware cutoff. At best, there is a software controlled transistor somewhere. Here’s what I’m thinking would be cool for future hardware. (Reminder - security guy, not a hardware guy, please hold all giggles about the simplicity of this diagram until the end of class 
)

Interesting. It could also be a feature to be included in the rabbit settings rather than in the rabbithole. It would be more convenient and easier to set up.
